Key Question: Can I really be sure I am *saved ?
Yes, you can be sure that you are saved and that your salvation lasts forever.
Wow, what a question. You have just made a decision to follow Jesus and put your faith in him as your Savior. Awesome! We are so excited for you and celebrate with you. Making the decision to follow Jesus is the most important decision you will ever make.
Maybe now, a few days later, you are starting to wonder, “How can I know that I am actually saved?” You may be asking yourself if it was real, or if it was emotion in that moment of time, or what happens if you made a mistake. How do you know you are different if you don’t feel different? You still have the same thoughts as before. You don’t feel like you are ready to tell the world. Maybe it was just an emotional response that you made Sunday morning? How can saying, “I believe in Jesus as my Lord and Savior” really make a difference? Well, there is a lot that goes into saying and believing those words, but yes, it is really that simple.
When Jesus died on the cross for our sins and rose from the dead on the third day, He made it possible for us to be *reconciled to God. His death paid the full penalty for our sin so we need never fear punishment from God for what we have done. He lived the life that we could not live and died the death we should have died in order to give us full access to God. When you realized what Jesus did on your behalf and placed your trust in HIS action to reconcile you back to God, at that moment, you were saved. We can be secure in knowing that we are saved because of what Jesus did – not in our own thoughts, feelings or actions.
THAT is the gospel. THAT is good news!
This module will focus on two specific areas:
1. How do I (or how did I) become a *Christian ?
2. What if I *sin after I become a Christian?
