Try to live more like Jesus daily.
So how do you begin to change? How can you begin to put off the old self and begin to live and act more like Jesus?
Jesus is our Savior* and He is also our example. He lived a perfect, sinless life for his entire time on Earth. If we want to know how to live a life that honors and imitates God, Jesus is the standard and the example for us to follow.
I am sure you are thinking, “That’s just great! There is no way I can live up to that! How can God expect me to live like Jesus? He is perfect and I am anything but!”
This can be a confusing part of the Christian life. There is no way that any of us can live exactly as Jesus would in our place out of our own personal effort. Isaiah 64:6 says that even our most righteous deeds are like filthy rags in comparison to God. So what can we do?
We are asked to do the best we can and count on God to change us in ways that we cannot change ourselves. Philippians 2:12 says, “…continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling…” By this, Paul is not asking us to earn our salvation, but he is calling us to live in response to it. We need to live in such a way that it would seem that all of the responsibility for becoming like Jesus is resting on our shoulders. (Confusing? Misleading? How can we restate this?) We need to try hard daily to be more like Jesus.
