Snap Shot Summary – Lesson One

Primary Question:

•   Can we, as Christians, really be sure we are saved? {Assurance of salvation}

Key Truth:

•   It is possible to know for sure that God loves you right where you are in life and that your salvation is secure.

Key Scripture/s:

•   “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

•   “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God not by works, so that no one can boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)

•   “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.  I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.”  (1 John 5:12-13)

•   “If we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sin, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”  (1 John 1:9)

Key Application/s:

•   Have confidence in what Jesus has done and that your salvation is secure.

•   Don’t carry guilt and shame.

•   Confess your sins daily.

•   Be joyful.

•   Read the Bible. (next unit)

•   Get baptized. (next unit)

Say this out loud: “Since I trust in what Jesus has done as a payment for my sin- past, present, and future- there is nothing I can do to make God stop loving me. Nothing. There is nothing. I am His child. I am loved. I am a Christian, and I am saved.”
